It was the heights of the pandemic and I had a grave craving. I took a brave step to leave the confinement of my apartment. I was masked and gloved up as if incognito was the game. Game???? I was actually fighting for survival because COVID-19 was rampant.
6 feet became a part of me as I became a part of it – I was at my happiest when 6 feet was met. I yearned for something that was red, seedy, watery and sweet. I paced the isle until the perfect one chose me. It was too automatic. I paid for it and was happy as can be. I ate it mentally, yum yum! Now it was time to eat it physically. I took it out the film, ready to dive in. It was so good I read the barcode like nutritional facts. $2.99 per pound, the price was blinding $15.97 for red, seedy, watery, sweet, was it worth it though? Was it worth it???
Please view the specimen in all its glory below⬇️

The USDA confirms that in 2020 the average retail price per pound of watermelon was $0.36 per pound. I paid 8+ times the average price!!!! Price gouging? Inflation? Pandemic? Welcome to the Bronx😌
